x+y=92
x-y=20

from second x=20+y
into first 
(20+y)+y=92
2y=72
y=36

into first
x-36=20
x=56


answer: 36 and 56

x + y = 92

x - y = 20


Suming the two lines:

2x = 112

x = 112 / 2

x = 56


Now just put the value of "x" on first line:

x + y = 92

56 + y = 92

y = 92 - 56

y = 36
