What is the solution to the system of equations x-y=-1 and x-3y = 13

Using process of substitution. 

x-y+y=-1+y

x=-1+y

Now substitute into x-3y=13

-1+y-3y=13
-1+1-2y=13+1
-2y=14

y=-7

Therefore, x= -8
